19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hardcourt
A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his initial title for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.
Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has experienced a torrid season, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the American major.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in specific - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-time coach Cervara.
Currently training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought three-set win over challenger Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's first trophy since the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface since that period of that year.
The win also signifies he has achieved 21 titles at 21 various competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my two daughters at once, so to win a title is especially meaningful," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my child my daughter was born was for her."
The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six finals, featuring in that event previously this season.
His counter-punching approach and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had caused some to doubt if his ability to play at the top level was concluded.
However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete positively, supported by an improved serving game.
Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, winning 4 of the final five games to go ahead.
The competitors traded breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his maiden ATP Tour title, took control to force a final set.
The opponent rescued 4 early chances in a competitive third set before the Russian broke to fifteen to secure the win.
Fittingly, he secured the win with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
